Tonight's Guild Meeting

Tonight's meeting is about Mitered Squares and Modular Knitting.
I LOVE that kind of knitting. It's so elegant, but not hard to do.
There's a scarf in Knits from a Painter's Palette that uses Koigu
yarn. I bought some of it at Stitches this past year. The yarn is
gorgeous, but needs to be skeined. Maybe I can at least start this
scarf, or get some ideas for it. I am excited about this meeting.

Baby Outift

My friend in the UK, whom I've known for over 50 years, we went to
school together, loved the baby outfit I sent. I'm waiting for her
daughter to use it and send me a photo of her baby wearing it. That
would be a thrill to see it worn!

I am currently working on my version of the 5 Hour Baby Sweater ( boy is that a joke!). It's for
a friend in the UK whose daughter is having a baby. I designed and re-wrote the pattern way back in 1978 for my own two girls. I call it "Jiffy Baby Set". There's a hat and booties to go with it. They wore it when they were babies. I make it in two colors. It's fun to make, but there's no way you can do it in 5 hours. I think that name is symbolic, rather than literal. It goes quickly because it's done on big needles 10.5's, but it also takes a while to make it nicely finished and the ends all neatly woven in. I finish the bottom of the sweater with a picot edge instead of a hem.
